ZhuHuinan_Face

Zhu Huinan (12/20/1922~11/15/2014) was born in Changsha, Hunan Province, China. He graduated from Wuhan University in 1948 with a degree in Economics. He was a deputy director in the communications department of the Wuhan Municipal Committee, and then a vice president and a professor in economics at Wuhan Municipal University in China. After he retired in 1982, he started to pursue his talent and passion in Chinese painting.

Within 10 years of beginning to study Chinese painting on his own, Zhu Huinan had become a notable and award winning artist in China. His paintings were displayed in national and international exhibitions, and published in newspapers, magazines, and 23 Chinese painting books. One significant book is “One Hundred Year Classics”, a collection of the best Chinese paintings created between 1900 and 2000. A number of Zhu Huinan’s paintings also won national awards, and some were donated to charity exhibits to raise money to help victims and cities recovering from natural disasters.

Zhu Huinan was a member of Chinese Society for Elder Calligraphy and Painting, the director of the Wuhan Elder Painting and Calligraphy Research Association, and the director of the Art Council of China Culture and Art in Wuhan.

Zhu Huinan is survived by his wife, Xueyu Yan, to whom he was married for 59 years, two children (a son and a daughter), four grandchildren (three grandsons and one granddaughter, and two great grandchildren (a great granddaughter and a great grandson).

  

About Zhu Huinan’s Paintings

Zhu Huinan’s paintings emphasize the beauty of nature with fine details and bright colors. His paintings are filled with beauty, optimism, and inspiration. As he started his painting career at age 60, a lot of his paintings reflect his belief that senior citizens can continue to blossom and contribute to our society.

Zhu Huinan’s paintings can be categorized into four areas: Plum Blossoms, Flowers, Birds and Flowers, and Mixtures that include Mountains, Animals, and People. He has won awards for his paintings in almost every one of these categories.
